Samantha Wright, Founder & Holistic Nutritionist

I’ve always been drawn to the healing power of food. Raised by a mom who reached for garlic and ginger before over-the-counter meds, I grew up believing in the body’s ability to heal when given the right support. Studying holistic nutrition after high school only deepened that belief.

Specifically, once I started learning more information around heart disease and its origin, before it rose to the number one killer, I was able to see just how powerful nutrition can be in healing us. And with the disease epidemic we have going on, I know more people deserve to understand this.

the problem with modern healthcare

Because what we’ve come to accept as “healthcare” today isn’t really about health at all, but about symptom management. Western medicine is built around diagnosing a problem and offering a solution to the symptoms that are arising from that problem, often without asking why the problem started in the first place. Instead of supporting the body’s natural ability to heal, (which we all have), it suppresses the signals that are trying to tell us something by labeling them as symptoms.

Take heart disease, for example. Statins, like Atorvastatin, the most commonly prescribed medication, lower cholesterol by blocking the liver’s HMG-CoA reductase pathway. Doing so also depletes CoQ10, a nutrient essential for heart health, energy production, and antioxidant protection. It’s known to reduce cardiac events in post-heart attack patients.

So we’re prescribing a drug that’s supposed to be helping millions with CVD that’s also depleting a key nutrient the heart needs to stay healthy

it's a pattern

This isn’t unique to heart disease, and by looking into western medicine treatments, we can see this common theme:

Mental Health

SSRIs are commonly used to treat depression and anxiety by increasing serotonin availability. But low serotonin isn’t the cause, it’s a symptom of a deeper imbalance, often rooted in gut health, stress, toxins, or hormone disruption. And manipulating neurotransmitters can come with a host of side effects: sleep disturbances, weight gain, and even increased anxiety or suicidal thoughts.

Weight Loss & Type 2 Diabetes

GLP-1 medications like Ozempic mimic a hormone that regulates appetite and blood sugar. But again, impaired GLP-1 production is a symptom. The root often lies in poor blood sugar regulation, gut imbalance, or chronic stress. And when these drugs are stopped, weight often returns, and metabolic issues remain unresolved.

our philosophy

At Beyond the Label Nutrition, we take a holistic approach to health. While we don’t diagnose or treat diseases, we support the body by addressing foundational pillars like digestion, blood sugar, hormone balance, and sleep. We see symptoms not as problems to suppress, but as signals that something is out of balance.

By listening to those signals, we can work towards bringing out body back to a restorative state.

This is a space for those who want to get to the root. Who want to feel good in their bodies again. And who are ready to stop chasing quick fixes, and start supporting lasting wellness from within.
